Supply Chain Management team at a leading technical textile manufacturing company enhanced its functional skills through a continual 1×1 coaching & mentoring program.

Overview
The company engaged with us for 16 weeks 1×1 coaching mentoring program to enhance supply chain functional skills of its mid to senior-level managers. While such an engagement was common for enhancing soft skills, this was a new concept for them on enhancing functional skills. Using these 1×1 interactions, our objective was to upgrade knowledge both at the conceptual as well as practical levels.
Challenges
Typical challenges involved with the current training model (1-2 day/s) are –
  • Difficulty in assimilation of knowledge from the training content & its delivery.
  • Training content was not decided as per the priorities of company as well as maturity of the team.
  • Lack of application as the team can not relate the frameworks/concepts in their real-life situation.
Solutions
Every individual interaction was designed to include concept, general framework, relevant external case studies as well as company’s internal operations and specific challenges. Longer and individual interactions brought about deeper conversations around supply chain aspects that allowed the participants to uncover holistic and lasting solutions to their challenges. The program consisted of –
  • Need Assessment Interview with each participant to identify focus areas using both individual aspirations as well as organizational KRAs.
  • Coaching Discussion on important concepts, frameworks & relevant external case studies.
  • Operational Integration Deep conversations on ongoing projects & specific challenges closely bringing concepts, framework, and global best practices into their business environment.
  • Action Learning Project Short 4-6 weeks project with each participant to enhance their learning and realize program value.
Results

Over 30 company-specific live projects were discussed, and insights generated.

Key outcome of this exercise included –

  • Easy paced learning with lasting impact.
  • Commitment to continual learning through case study reviews and action learning project.
  • Opening minds through similar as well as cross industry best practices.
  • 70-30 focus as the bulk of learning happens through discussions with small portion on key concepts / frameworks.
A continual Coaching & Mentoring on innovative practices & thought processes is required to build a robust capacity & supply chain leadership pipeline in organization
